Purchasing Manager

Summary Description
As a Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for the procurement of equipment, goods and services and managing the vendors. You will perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search and negotiate the best price solution and find more profitable and customer focused suppliers.

• Manage and coordinate the procurement of all goods and services.
• Obtain quotes as identified by Facilities/Contract Manager and assist in completing cost benefit analyses as requested.
• Manage and coordinate the company’s day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing staff are following the process and work instructions.
• Seek reliable vendors as needed and negotiate pricing and review vendor agreements as needed to support the critical business needs.
• Evaluate current and potential vendors to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Facilitates in obtaining and examining cost saving opportunities for large volume purchases (e.g. furniture, office supplies, or others as assigned. Assist with Request for Proposals (RFP's) as required.
• Oversee the accuracy and the timely processing of all invoices.
• Facilitates and coordinates any training and communication with staff, in regards to Purchasing Policy and Purchasing System.
• Assists in managing the American Express corporate credit card.
• Coordinate cost analysis with Coretrust in order to reduce costs and maintain the relationship for vendor contact and resolution of issues.

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
• Education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Skills, Knowledge Abilities (SKA)
• Proven experience as Purchasing Coordinator or relevant position.
• Familiarity with procurement and vendor management.
• Ability to gather and analyze data.
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; works well in group problem solving situations; maintains a calm demeanor in difficult situations.
• Strong critical thinking skills necessary.
• Flexibility and good organizational skills needed.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles.
• Knowledge of Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
• Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and obtains clarification.
• Contributes to building a positive team spirit.

• 5 + years of demonstrated Purchasing experience
• Must have knowledge of purchasing and working with vendors
• Previous workload management experience and supervisory experience strongly preferred.
