JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:            AssociateMedical Director                                                                                          

REPORTS TO:      MedicalDirector

FLSA STATUS:     Exempt

Summary Description

Assists as directed by the Medical Director and in theMedical Director’s absence assumes clinically related duties.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the day to day clinicaloversight of the Case Management Program.
  • Collaborates with senior management in thefurther development and execution of the Case Management Program specific tothe needs of the contract.
  • Participates in Case Conferences on individualsenrolled in Case Management programs-Provides medical insight and direction
  • Available to Case Managers for individualconsultation of a case by case basis
  • Conducts periodic audits of Case manager workplans and progress toward goals to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provides education on relevant clinical topicsof interest to Case Managers by means of regularly scheduled educationalconferences. (anticipate monthly)
  • Completes Medical Director reviews anddeterminations on UM pre-cert and appeals requests as may be assigned duringthe Medical Director’s absence
  • Participate in activities specific tocontractual arrangements as may be assigned
  • Minimal travel may be required to participate inKEPRO and Client Field Health Collaboration meetings

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. with current non-restricted licenseto practice medicine by the Board of Medical Examiners.  License must be in same state ascontractually required.  Board certificationin a clinical specialty is required.  

Knowledge, Skills,Abilities(KSA)

  • Working knowledge of quality assurance,utilization review, and case management is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diversity ofpersonalities. Must be  approachable; showrespect for others, and a consensus builder. 
  • Adaptable with strong collaborative managementstyle, a creative thinker with high energy and enthusiasm, and a team playerwho promotes the concepts of people working together.
  • Able to adapt to frequently changing workparameters.

Experience

  • 10+ years of clinical practice.
  • Prior review or case management experience orquality assurance committee responsibility in a hospital setting preferred.
