Audit Pharmacist


This position will work with the Alabama Medicaid to conduct audits related to Pharmacy and Durable Medical Equipment (DME). The Audit Pharmacist must be located in Alabama, and reside within driving distance of the Alabama Medicaid home office in Montgomery, Alabama. The Audit Pharmacist assigned to work with Alabama Medicaid must possess superior clinical competence, demonstrate proficiency in claims processing, policy, pharmacy operations, and have superior computer, communication, analytical thinking and problem solving skills, and be willing to travel if needed. Audit experience is preferred. The Audit Pharmacist shall have at minimum 3 years of experience in outpatient/community pharmacy within the past 5 years, must be licensed in the State of Alabama, and must be in good standing with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.

Essential job functions:

1.Reviews, creates, or maintains various documents /reports used internally as well as publicly and ensure the information is correct.
2.Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position including prior authorization reviews, quality control, and criteria management.

1.Meet and/or exceed production, quality, attendance and adherence standards.
2.Provide / assist in training of other employees.
3.Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
4.Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1.A combination of comprehensive therapeutic knowledge, problem-solving skills, and judgment is necessary.
2.Ability to work cooperatively with others; comprehension of the current standards of pharmacy practice; and understanding of the challenges of professional pharmacy practice.
3.Ability to master computer / software applications necessary for completing job tasks as required.
4.Ability to manage multiple employees and workloads at once and meet contractual deadlines.
5.Ability to understand functionality of applications for processing of PA reviews (approvals and denials).
6.Excellent verbal and communication skills.
7.Excellent research and writing skills.

Education and Experience:

Education:Minimum –Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required.
Preferred – Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree (Desired, not required).

Experience:Minimum – 3 years of experience in outpatient/community pharmacy within the past 5 years

Licenses or Certifications:

License:Minimum - Licensed Pharmacist holds an active and unrestrictive license in the State of operation.

Equipment Needed to Perform the Job: Personal computer with job-related software, telephone, calculator, and photocopier.

Travel: Occasional travel in common transportation carriers or personal automobile may be required to perform the job.

Working Conditions: Pleasant working conditions (low noise level) in office environment.
