Financial Analyst

Summary Description

Maintain and analyze pool structures for effectiveness, lead planning (budgeting) and re-forecasting activities and provide cost analysis for current and new projects.

Accountabilities / Essential Functions

  • Perform monthly analysis on balance sheet, income statement (contracts and support departments) and allocations
  • Create & distribute reporting package which details monthly and yearly trends by contract, location and division.
  • Identify trends, analyze & identify causes of unexpected variances.
  • Maintain/update budget tool
  • Provide user training of budget and planning tools
  • Ensure timely completion and distribution of budgets by contract, support department, allocations and consolidated.
  • Maintain/create planning tools to complete quarterly re-forecasting
  • Perform analysis of re-forecast to budget and actual
  • Perform regular project performance evaluations against submitted pricing.
  • Provide feedback and analysis to Finance and Operations on deviations from actual contract performance compared to submitted proposal.
  • Perform statistical and financial analysis for cost drivers, such as cost per review, break-even point and ratios.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Finance or Accounting including 2-3 years Financial Planning & Analysis

Skills, Knowledge Abilities (SKA)             

  • Experience with computerized accounting systems, preferably a Project-based ERP such as Deltek Costpoint.
  • Experience owning & maintaining integrated financial models.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytic and organizational skills, and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Creative, highly driven and self-guided.
  • Uncompromising level of precision and accuracy while working under tight deadlines.

Experience        

  • Advanced financial modeling skills and experience using Excel and preferably Access.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP and financial reporting systems preferably IBM Cognos BI
