Manager, Medical Records

Responsible for managing all functions within the Medical Records Department and coordinating effective and efficient process improvement activities in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and applicable accreditation standards

  • Ensures that the department is appropriately staffed with qualified individuals who are sufficiently trained to meet departmental and organizational expectations
  • Manages the Medical Records Team to maintain and ensure the data integrity of the Department. Monitors staff productivity and quality expectations with staff work tasks, to include timeliness and accuracy.  Participates in process improvement activities. 
  • Prioritizes workloads and assigns accountabilities to staff. Reviews work queues daily to identify daily priorities including identification and resolution of problems with achieving goals/deliverables; adjusts work assignments of staff as needed
  • Maintains and applies knowledge of State and Federal Laws and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Serves as the technical expert for staff questions, problems, and difficult customer situations
  • Collaborates with IT to problem solve system issues; performing testing; identifying reporting needs and educating others when system changes are implemented
  • Participates in the creation and execution of educational initiatives associated with HIM strategies
  • Fosters effective working relationships between KEPRO’s internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field, required
  • Current RHIT or RHIA credential preferred.
  • 5 years HIM/healthcare related experience, with at least 3 years Management experience, required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal/State Regulations, HIPAA, CMS requirements, preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership initiative and judgment in performance of job responsibilities, while maintaining professionalism, flexibility and dependability under frequently changing work parameters
  • Excellent communication, organization & team building skills plus a strong focus on customer service, and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers, required
  • Strictly adhere to established company confidentiality policies
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
