Job Description

Accountabilities

Entry of claim-specific data into the contract’s medical management information system. (i.e., patient demographics, various risk management codes, pertinent medical providers, etc…)

Review, organize, and bookmark all applicable medical records and legal documents.

Produce a detailed, error-free, claim-specific medical chronology in accordance with established reporting deadlines.

Assist with completion of paid claim chronology reports.

As needed, produce written Pre-litigation Claim Management reports which demonstrate an understanding of the claim. (i.e., identify and define relevant medical-legal liability issues affecting defensibility; recognize and discuss extenuating and mitigating circumstances; provide meaningful instruction for claim management, and assign an accurate loss reserve using venue-based statistics and claim trend reports)

As needed, produce written Pre-litigation Risk Management reports which define claim specific risk management recommendations which will promote patient safety, avert future risk, and improve the quality of care.

Assist in preparing the monthly MCRP agenda.  

Participate in the annual deeming/redeeming application review process.

Support corporate and contract goals: complete other KEPRO/HRSA-related tasks as required or as assigned, assist team members as needed.

Demonstrate a willingness to cross train and perform duties of other contracts within KEPRO to provide a flexible workforce to meet client/customer needs.

Qualifications

§  Education (general level if required) or specific courses

•         Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with risk management, claims expertise preferred.

§  Skills, Knowledge

Abilities (SKA)

§  Excellent oral and written communications skills

§  Strong analytical and interpretive skills

§  Strong organizational and decision-making skills

§  Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software programs operating in a Windows environment

§  Experience (If needed, describe kind & amount)

§  Five years previous experience writing medical chronologies/summaries.

§  Previous experience writing Claim Management Recommendations Reports and Risk Management Recommendations/Quality Improvement Reports desired.
