Senior Health Intelligence Programmer

Summary Description

This position is responsiblefor developing, enhancing, and maintaining the core data processing platformsof the company and working with large data volume processing to drive businesssolutions by querying existing databases in order to create actionable datareports and by creating and maintaining data reporting applications that resultin efficient data extraction. 


  • Queries existing databases to pull datanecessary for reporting and contract deliverables
  • Develops, enhances and maintains data processingplatforms
  • Performs quality checks of all analyticsqueries, reports, and applications and identifies disparities and actionableresolutions.
  • Manage inventory/library of existing reports.
  • Create/program/design new report development andmodifications to reports.
  • Respond to ad hoc queries and reports as needed.
  • Schedule and maintain automation of approvedrecurring reports.
  • Produce and distribute non-automated reports anddeliver to client facing lead.
  • Working knowledge of contract requirements andtype of work.
  • Provides internal report QA to other technicalteam members.


Must be

  • Knowledgeable of business intelligence and datawarehouse methodologies.
  • Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS)
  • Skilled in database administration
  • Skilled in SQL tools including SSRS, SSAS, SSMS,and Team Foundation Server
  • Skilled in ETL tools
  • Skilled in data modeling
  • Skilled in performance tuning and identification
  • Knowledge of business and technical systems andprocesses
  • Skilled in requirements gathering anddocumentation
  • Skilled in functional and technical designspecifications
  • Skilled in process modeling 
  • Knowledgeable of the healthcare industry,managed care, and operational systems.



Bachelorof Science in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Health ServicesResearch required.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

Thisposition requires strong communication, quantitative, business and computerskills, knowledge of data management, querying, and SQL tools is highlydesirable; ability to work quickly, within constraints of deadlines, understressful situations and with resource limitations, and to function compatiblywith team members of diverse clinical and experiential backgroundsessential.  Creativity, foresight andmature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems, determiningprogram objectives and requirements and organizing programs and projectspreferred.  Knowledge of quality projectmethodologies desirable.


4+years of SQL programming and SSRS reporting experience, preferably with medicaland Rx claims.  Experienced in MicrosoftExcel and Access. Skills to organize and integrate a variety of activities arerequired.
