Clinical Informatics Specialist

 

Summary

Responsible for reporting, analysis, and interpretation of healthcare information, obtained from a variety of sources, including administrative, clinical, financial, and demographic data. Responsibilities include the development and preparation of data to provide useful information and commentary for internal and external stakeholders. 

Accountabilities

  • Identifies clinical practice workflow and process issues and concerns, and provides leadership and guidance to define system and process requirements that will optimize system performance and technology utilization by clinical practitioners.
  • Interpret, modify, analyze and design clinical systems, data and information.
  • Facilitate clinical content team – work with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals to evaluate
  • current functionality and develop future applications
  • Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve
  • existing systems.
  • Researches patient data across multiple applications
  • Serves as a resource person for business development opportunities
  • Work with other members of the team to implement solutions to system related problems to minimize operational impact.

Skills

  • Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in healthcare required.
  • Medical terminology and understanding of workflows is critical.
  • Experienced in clinical systems implementations and support including system configuration, custom development, maintenance and software upgrades
  • Ability to compile, analyze and categorize, or verify information/data
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access is required.
  • Basic SAS, SQL and statistical experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability with data analytics, and the ability to generate graphs/reports of analytic results. 
  • Education            Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in computer science, statistics, math, or professional experience equivalent.
  • Licensed clinician i.e., RN, LCSW strongly preferred.
